He pulls the trigger. There’s a dull thud in my chest and I can’t breathe.

I blink, and faded black ink stretches across his forehead in elaborate lettering that spells KOREAN KILLERS.
He pulls the trigger again and there’s another thud just below my throat.
“Eric, I want to be like you.” Another shot. “I want to be a part of your family.” Shot. “I want to be like you.” Shot. “Why don’t you love me?”
