We wasn’t doin nothin, just shootin hoops on the roof.

BRONX ROOFTOPS BY PAMELA WALKER 34THPARALLEL MAGAZINE ISSUE 129

I just made a bank-shot when everything stop. We never seen that guy, not in our life. He come out of nowhere looking for trouble. That how weird it was, him at the far end of the roof.

I am (wo)man.

I AM (WO)MAN BY SAMMY T ANDERSON 34THPARALLEL MAGAZINE ISSUE 129

I am a man.

Y chromosomes and body hair

and angry brow,

oooh ahh’n

in locker rooms

searing skin off my flesh

with dirty BIC lighters.

Lusting after luscious lips and soft skin,

hourglass women makin’ me weak

in the knees…

What happened in the woods?

FRIENDS FOR LIFE BY LAURA BOTA 34THPARALLEL MAGAZINE ISSUE 129

“Friends for life, we’ll always have each other’s backs,” Grasu’s words keep ringing in my head.

Show me a road

out of nightmare city.

FERRYMAN FERRYMAN BY RON TOBEY 34THPARALLEL MAGAZINE ISSUE 129

Δεῖμος καὶ Φόβος [Horror and fear]

Ferryman, ferryman,

I paid your heavy fee

take it off my eyes

let me see.

Show me a road out of nightmare city

though I run and run, I cannot flee

I don’t know where I am

why this maze of streets

indistinguishable concrete apartment blocks

painted penitentiary gray

office buildings defiant as castles

huge barred doors without knobs or latches

no addresses

no architecture of fame by architects of name

street signs blank sidewalks empty of people.

Here we go again.

HERE WE GO AGAIN BY RICK BURSKY 34THPARALLEL MAGAZINE ISSUE 129

When the sun sets, all hell will break loose.  After all, this is the end of world.
